There is a certain street in Bangkok that has shop after shop specializing in all things religious. In Thailand, all things religious refers to Buddha statues in every conceivable shape, style and size, protective amulets, alters and something we had never seen before, gift baskets for monks. A Thai will receive great merit by donating such a basket to a monk and all sorts are available. Most contain Monk's robes, toothpaste, laundry soap (no shampoo, I wonder why?), fans, flip-flops, bottles of whiskey and candy bars. OK, not the whiskey.
