Most backpackers in Bangkok end up at Khao Sarn Road in old Bangkok. Known for its cheap guesthouses, food stalls, and seudo-ethnic clothing (see item 3 above), this area attracts budget travelers young and old alike. I found the sensation of it much like Las Vegas Boulevard or Bourbon Street - fun and fascinating for about two days, then it gets exhausting.
