Credit where credit is due - I saw a similar photograph in our Lonely Planet guidebook and had to have a one for my very own. Palm readers are of course popular all over the world (on a street in Hong Kong I was told with authority that I would live to be 84, a great comfort when I am suffering from vertigo atop a rickity colonial era suspension bridge or lookout tower) but here they often offer their services in or just outside Buddhist religious sites, neither condoned nor condemned by the monks within.
