The Krama ~ Kampot, Cambodia
Dec 28 2001

As soon as one crosses the border from Vietnam to Cambodia there is a sea change in culture. Vietnam is clearly influenced by it great neighbor to the North, China, while Cambodia traces it's cultural heritage to India. Then there is the Krama, the long scarf that has so many uses - it seems to be a uniquely Cambodian item. The women wear them wrapped about the head and the men use them to shield their faces and wipe away sweat. While on our motorcycle journeys we found the Krama useful in these, and many more ways.
