Pollution technology ~ Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Dec 31 2001

They possess the technology in Cambodia that allows a stream to become so polluted it takes on the appearance of crude oil - we cannot seem to get used to, or begin to understand the thinking that allows people to so pollute their own backyards. At least in America we bury it on the outskirts of town where it is out of sight, out of mind. In seriousness, pollution in this country takes the form of sewage rather than great factories spewing out smoke (that every poor country aspires to have) as we have seen in China and Vietnam. Infant mortality is high in Cambodia because of the conditions brought on by the lack of adequate sanitation nationwide.
