Bokor Catholic Church ~ Cambodia
Dec 28 2001

One of the better preserved buildings at Bokor and one that leaves no doubt about its original purpose is the Catholic church. This place has seen its fare share of irony. This tiny town that served as a cool getaway for the wealthy had an opulant hotel, a large casino and this church. Gamble late into the night on Saturday and ask forgiveness first thing in the morning. This church was also the last position held by the Communist Khmer Rouge while battling the Vietnamese for control of the hilltop in 1978.
